Volunteering at Protsahan

Twania came to Protsahan as a University of Chicago student with the Common Purpose India team in March 2017 and says ‘Something within me changed forever when I met Protsahan girls. They are the happiest, most healed souls I’ve come across. They are passionate little girls who dream and follow it up with actions. I’m a part of your family now and forever.” She went back to Chicago and within 2 months launched a global campaign to raise support for our work starting Delhi, India. She along with her fascinating team members Jessica, Amy Crawford and other University fellows, mobilised people to raise INR 6 lakh. Twania, your belief in our grassroot work for children inspires us. Thank you! You’re our hero!

She is a Protsahan Changemaker intern for 2017. She successfully raised INR 25,000 on Bitgiving , which is a crowdfunding platform in a span of a month to add some lovely books for the girls. She brilliantly managed the documentation of our sessions by adding blogs and pictures to our news feed and was a wonderful teaching volunteer. She also held many fun and value based activities with the girls to teach them the values like the ‘Power of Appreciation’ and the ‘ Importance of being present at the moment’. Moreover, her passion to help others by taking up challenges and facing it makes her unique. We are proud of her determination and zeal. We wish her good luck for her future endeavours.

Through the one and a half months as an intern, I not only observed but experienced and learnt a lot with the girls at Protsahan. On my first day, I felt warmly welcomed when all these new little faces hugged me during their meditation session. Sonal ma’am guided me all along, and scolded me when needed. After watching their therapy sessions, working and interacting with Protsahan girls about their life, we kind of developed a special bond. I loved spending time with all of them. With the rigorous tasks that Sonal ma’am gave me, I successfully compiled a report on ‘Creative Art healing’ and raised Rs.1,00,000 in a fundraiser. What seemed daunting in the beginning, gave me immense happiness and satisfaction by the end of my internship at Protsahan.

Monika Narayanan from Singapore has been the torchbearer of Protsahan’s cause since 2012. Working behind the scenes, she has stood up for raising the concerns at Protsahan centre in New Delhi in India and in the Singapore community at large. She has been influential in kick-starting the Giving Circle, a small group of Indians in Singapore who further have become flagbearers of the cause to fight Child Sexual Abuse. Her support is unflinching and remarkable. She has fundraised, spoken about the issue, and promoted Protsahan’s film that talks about how important it is to save little girls and educate them. In her words, “When you give to Protsahan , you are not a giver. You become the receiver. You receive love from children, blessings from their families and grace from the universe! The shining eyes of their girls is the first giveaway of the brilliant work being done at Protsahan. I believe every child is being groomed to be a leader here. It’s not a school, it’s a revolution!”

Vasanthi Ravi, an enthusiastic & assertive lady with a heart of gold for those who understand her. She is one of the strongest pillars of Protsahan in Singapore for gathering support for Protsahan’s mission. She joined Protsahan because she feels strongly for the cause of empowering at-risk girls and women. Extremely strong work ethics with a flair for numbers and project management, she is a beautiful addition to Team Protsahan. Her ethics, strength and assertion make her an asset here for strengthening our ground work back in India. She works closely with our official volunteers in Singapore towards realizing the vision for Protsahan.
