To promote intensive awareness raising of society as a whole, communities, parents, teachers, and children themselves, PROTSAHAN India Foundation implemented innovative workshops across India in 2013 to #ENDViolence with UNICEF India. On one hand, the campaign focused on intense political commitment and promoted zero tolerance and legal action to abuse. It also laid emphasis on fostering of a culture of reporting of cases of abuses. On the other hand the campaign signaled promotion of key messages for parents, children, medical sector and teachers on how to protect children from abuse. Thousands of young adolescent girls and boys and little children and their communities were reached out to with young girls making films, comic books, community street plays on the issue across the country. This joint campaign with Unicef India involved us reaching out with our core strength areas of using technology platforms, cinema, design and art to raise awareness about child abuse in slum communities and online. Sexual abuse is mostly about power v/s vulnerability than just about sexual desire. Using digital platforms creatively we reached out children in at risk communities to end violence against its children.
